What is Alzar?

Alzar (Spanish for “Uplift”) is a first-of-its-kind catalytic capital program for emerging Latine fund managers. Alzar is focused on providing operational capital to qualified fund GPs investing across various industries, theses, and geographies.

Operational costs associated with launching a fund tend to be particularly onerous (and at times debilitating) for emerging, underrepresented fund managers. Diver emerging fund managers face barriers to entry to fund management via limited personal wealth and personal networks not apt in fund investing. These barriers favor fund managers within a closed system, making it difficult for talented diverse fund managers to demonstrate their talent and change the venture ecosystem.

By helping reduce their burden, they can focus on building industry-leading funds. In turn, Alzar recipients will increase the funding sources available to Latine Founders.

Eight program recipients will be selected for the pilot program, with grants deployed in increments of $25K.
